Year 3
Week beginning 24th November 2025
It has been another great week. I'm sure lots of the children had a fantastic time at the disco! We have also done a fantastic job writing our own stories set in Victorian Britain. We are proud of how hard the children are working!
Worship Theme This Week:
Spirituality

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
2 Corinthians 3:17
This week's learning:
English: This week, we are moving on to find out more about writing biographies.
Maths: We will be learning about 2 digit numbers which total 100 and estimating.
RE: We will be comparing Hanukkah and Christmas.
History: We will be learning how rail travel changed Bournemouth.
Science: We will be exploring how magnets are attracted or repelled by materials
Important dates and messages:

Our PE day this year is Wednesday.
Our new classbook:
Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens

Homework:
Please note that this term's project homework is at the bottom of the page.
The children will receive their homework sheets this week. Please choose at least two tasks to complete over the course of our project. The children are welcome to complete more if they wish.
We look forward to seeing what they produce in our homework museum.
We also encourage children to practice our weekly spellings at home, as well as the Y3/4 common exception words.
MyMaths homework has been set for each child, and their login details are at the back of their reading record.
Reading:
We would love to see Year 3 using their extra time at home to read some brilliant books. If children read three times at home, they get a raffle ticket. Please, therefore, keep a quick record in reading logs – your children can write the title in to help! We would also like to encourage children to bring their reading records to school every day.

Maths
TTRS should be the main way the children use to practice their timetables. Children should still be completing 3 soundchecks and two garage bands a week.
However, if they would like a change or to focus on particular tables, they can use "Hit the button".
