Year 3

 Week beginning 3rd November 2025

Wow! We have completed our first half-term in Year 3!

This week we learned about some saints from Anglo-Saxon times and how they influenced a change from pagan to christian beliefs. We have been using our knowldge about the Anglo-Saxons to write a non-chronological report about village life at the time, in English.

In Maths we have been bringing some of our place vlaue knowldge togther by adding and subtracting hundreds, tens and ones.

We hope you all have an great half-term break!

We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break ready for our new project, 'Railway Revolution' focusing on the industrial revolution.

Homework:

Please note that this term's project homework is at the bottom of the page.

The children will receive their homework sheets this week. Please choose at least two tasks to complete over the course of our project. The children are welcome to complete more if they wish.

We look forward to seeing what they produce in our homework museum.

We also encourage children to practice our weekly spellings at home, as well as the Y3/4 common exception words.

MyMaths homework has been set for each child, and we will send their login details to their record by the end of the week.

Reading:

We would love to see Year 3 using their extra time at home to read some brilliant books. If children read three times at home, they get a raffle ticket. Please, therefore, keep a quick record in reading logs – your children can write the title in to help! We would also like to encourage children to bring their reading records to school every day.

Maths

TTRS should be the main way the children use to practice their timetables. We will send out log ins in the next week. Children should still be completing 3 soundchecks and two garage bands a week.

However, if they would like a change or to focus on particular tables, they can use "Hit the button".
