Year 2

This week the children have been writing letters to the local MP. They were writing to tell the local MP about pollution at Bournemouth Beach.

The children will be learning about statistics next week. The children will be revising all the sounds learnt in Phonics over the year. Next week, in English, the children will be writing letters to Mr Brown.

Worship theme of the week: Relationships

Next week, our worship theme will be relationships with ourselves and others.

Please note that our curriculum overview for this term is at the bottom of the page.

Whole Class Read

We will be practising our comprehension using a range of previous test questions on several different texts.

Reading Vipers     Shark Lady: The True Story of How Eugenie Clark Became the Ocean’s Most Fearless Scientist

Key Information:

Please aim to read with your child at home three times per week, as they will earn a reading raffle ticket for every three reads! In school, an adult will read with your child once per week and change their Rhino Reader book once each week too. In addition, children have ownership over their 'sharing book', which they can change themselves and pick which book they'd like to read.

We are trying to boost vocabulary within our writing in Year 2, so if you come across any powerful vocabulary whilst reading with your child, please ask them to note it in their reading record.
