Sensory circuits
Sensory circuits is an intervention that is run from 8.00am-8.30am, four mornings a week.
The purpose of sensory circuits is to facilitate sensory processing and stimulate children’s sensory motor skills. It has many benefits including; enhancing attention, developing fine and gross motor skills, reducing anxiety, improving coordination and improving behaviour.
The sessions begin with a warm up before children take part in a variety of both gross and fine motor activities using specialist equipment to support. The sessions end with calming activities to allow the children to prepare for entry to the classroom.
Children who have taken part in sensory circuits in the past have commented on feeling calmer and more ready to learn when entering the classroom after completing a session.
