  • Year 2 Instructional Writing

    Published 10/03/25

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been creating instructional writing. They started by creating instructions for making pancakes, as inspired by Matilda. Next, the children wrote instructions for making Rice Krispie Cakes and they loved following the instructions to make them. For our final stage of instructional writing, the children made their own set of instructions for their own cakes! There were some very imaginative ingredients for the cakes! It was so lovely to see children inspired to make their own tasty treats at home too!

  • Dodgeball Champs!

    Published 25/02/25

When British Dodgeball announced they were running a primary schools' tournament, we jumped at the chance to show off our skills! With only two weeks of training in the bag but passion in our hearts, we set off to see how we faired.

Working together, using great communication and channelling our inner champions, we managed to sail through to the semi-finals. This was our toughest match, but we still managed to win 6-4. We then won the final with a fantastic score of 6-4.

It was a day we will never forget - especially as this means we are now off to Bristol in the summer for regionals!

    Well done, dodgeball champs!

  • Blast off to the Winchester Science Museum

    Published 14/02/25

Year 5 had the adventure of a lifetime at the Winchester Science Museum. We took part in some learning in the planetarium and had a session in the classrooms all about light and how the light we see can be broken down into different colours.

We also explored the self-learning areas - we were able to find our school from space and even feel how heavy a tin of beans would be on each planet!

We had the most amazing day, full of astonishing facts and magnificent learning.

  • Year 4 Plastic Pollution

    Published 23/01/25

This week, Year 4 have focused on gathering information on plastic pollution in readiness for writing a newspaper report on the issue.

The children have looked at a range of different resources, as well as focusing on how to conduct interviews to get opinions on this issue.

Year 4 created their own interview questions on plastic pollution, ensuring that they are open ended, allowing the interviewee to give explanation to their answer. Using the questions they created, Year 4 interviewed Year 6 on plastic pollution to gather information on their opinions on the matter. b

Both Year 4 and Year 6 collaborated really well for this task and it was lovely to see the children working across year groups.

Thank you to Year 6 for allowing Year 4 to come and interview to get your views on this very important issue!
